Last week of term

The last week has flown by so quickly. We have enjoyed a gender reveal party and were very excited when we found out Miss Watson is having a boy! We have watched Fatima present her Super Science experiment in front of the whole school. We have enjoyed our revision learning rotations with Miss Payne. We had a special movie and popcorn afternoon on the last day to celebrate all of our hard work and achievement.

Procedural Writing

This Term we have focused on procedural texts. Students have had fun engaging in multiple hands on activities making things and explaining how to do so using descriptive language. Afterwards, we have a go at writing it all down.

Here are some snapshots of our fun..

Fun with Miss Payne...Mystery Bags; Creating Images

Miss Payne was introducing us to a new strategy that we call creating images. Creating Images is where we take the information from a text and use our senses to help us create an image in our heads. Mis Payne told us that adults do this all the time when they read books with no pictures!

She first got us interested by creating some mystery bags. We were only allowed to feel inside and make a guess about what could be inside. Each bag had objects from the same place. We had to move around and guess each thing then use our knowledge to predict the place they were all from. Afterwards we read a story which linked to the theme, but, it had no front cover! Our job was to become the illustrators and design our own front cover for the story. We had a great time!

Creating Images is FUN!
