First of all I would like to welcome all parents and students back to school for 2018!
I’m sure there will be mixed emotions as you all say goodbye to your children and wish them well on their first day at school full time. The first few weeks may seem hard while your children adjust, however it gets easier. Some children need more time to adjust to full time school than others.
I wanted to take this time to introduce myself as I am currently on maternity leave until the end of Week 4. My name is Katy Govan. I have 2 children at home myself, the oldest, Jacob starts Year 1 this week and my youngest, Elijah is 10 weeks old. I have been teaching in Early Childhood for 7 years, this year being my 8th. I have been teaching at Wattle Grove since 2015, teaching the PP/1 split class. Ms Barnes will be covering my leave for the first 4 weeks until I return back to work.
It was nice to meet some of you this morning. I am looking forward to returning to work in the coming weeks and working alongside you to support your children through Pre Primary this year.
Kind Regards,
Katy Govan

NAIDOC WEEK
This term we have celebrated NAIDOC week. As a class, Room 9 completed numerous activities designed to teach students about the Aboriginal culture. On the Friday, we attended a whole school assembly where there were some special visitors. We sang a song called "Wanjoo" for the special guests. They were very impressed with us all.

Last week of term
The last week has flown by so quickly. We have enjoyed a gender reveal party and were very excited when we found out Miss Watson is having a boy! We have watched Fatima present her Super Science experiment in front of the whole school. We have enjoyed our revision learning rotations with Miss Payne. We had a special movie and popcorn afternoon on the last day to celebrate all of our hard work and achievement.
A big thankyou to all parents for your continued support. We hope you enjoy a well deserved break and look forward to seeing everyone back for a busy Term 3.

This Term we have focused on procedural texts. Students have had fun engaging in multiple hands on activities making things and explaining how to do so using descriptive language. Afterwards, we have a go at writing it all down.
